The weather this year was just outstanding. The temperature was in the low 60's, the sun was high in the sky and not a trace of any clouds. Bob Krier, fearing the sun, was observed several times splashing on #30 sun tan lotion. (The older you get you need to be careful of those ultra-violet rays.)

23 of 23 golfers showed up. First time there wasn't a no-show. I'll bet those "Legends" that could not attend this year, were stewing while looking out their window at work, wishing they had played hokey.

The ladies this year were rewarded for their outstanding efforts over the past years, and given the #4 tee time. Usually given the last tee time, they have consistently played better and have constantly pushed the groups ahead of them. Unfortunately Dawn, could not participate this year and missed out on the glorious time. (Something about having to work, but I think she was mad she couldn't play in Ed's group and was just pouting.)

There wasn't too much bickering among the participants this year, Mike Jarrick only complained once about having to play in the same group with Nick Naselli. Ed kept his head and group under control when Dan Krier sent them scattering with an errant tee shot from the 12th tee into the 11th tee. Ken was observed using some kind of hand language and making remarks about yelling "fore" and "come over here you...".

Lynn Fulton, Abby Fulton, Andy Fulton and "Just" Matt decided to walk the course after observing that was how their heroes Zeb and Mike Jarrick do it.... Just kidding, this first time group of youngsters (not Lynn) played very well.

There was quite a bit of controversy this year with the contests. First, the "closest to the pin" on #5 was invalidated, when no one could hit the green. (talk about embarrassing, it's only 133 yards) When word finally reached the tournament director, the contest was hurriedly switched to #11 and won by Jim Stewart. Bob Kveton won the "longest drive" contest on #9, an unbelieving Bob Krier was muttering something about no one could've beat him! The "longest putt" on #14 was won by JoAnn Blanchard who had to explain to Ken Kveton how they measured the distance of her putt using the flag pole and he was 2/3 short. (as usual) The 2nd "closest to the pin" on #18 was won by Lynn Fulton, even though there was an uproar from the observing participants who thought Ed Vondruska was closer. Lynn said he measured it heel to toe and applied some kind of mathematical formula allowing for wind drift, the position of the sun and moon and..... That's and engineer for you.

Carol Pijanowski won the coveted "high gross" contest. It was a heated race for the prize and Carol almost lost it when she sank a forty footer on the 18th, but alas she could not be out done.

Zeb, for the second year in a row won the "low gross" contest with a wonderful 87. Mike Jarrick came in with a 93, Lynn Fulton with a 94, Gary Meyers with a 96 and Bob Kveton finished those under a 100 with a 98. The rest of the field was just slightly higher. (yeah sure..)

The final contest, "best poker hand" was a nail biter. Dan Krier thought he had it wrapped up, with four 9's, and was envisioning how he was going to spend his fortune. Un fortunately for Dan and for the second year in a row Zeb came up with five 5's. Zeb not one to gloat over his winnings proceed to buy several rounds, which caused Ken to proclaim, "Not bad, it only cost me two dollars and I got two beers"!

See you all again next year.......
