The championship is a team double elimination tournament

Last year’s champions are allowed defend their title.

All other teams are chosen at random out of a hat.
Exceptions:

1. If the returning champions have already won 3 straight titles, all participants may choose their own partners.

2. Any participant who is female or below the age of 18 must be teamed with a volunteer in order to play.

Games are to 21 unless the tourney director declares otherwise due to poor weather conditions or darkness. Scoring is on a 1 and 3 point system with leaners worth two.

All disputes will be settled by the tourney director who is Jerry, or whomever he designates to reign in his absence.

The official distance between the stakes will be determined by the tourney director by tossing 2 horseshoes from one stake and declaring the official spot of the second stake somewhere between the two thrown shoes.  This will be the official distance for that entire tourney."

The results of the tournament do not become official until Ken does not complain about the results for at least three months.
